Gershwin or no Gershwin. It is still some time until summer, but who wants to spend every night at the sewing mashine in the summer?? Not me, so it is time to start building stock here. Not only for the shop, but for my daughters wardrobe as well. And these peasant style dresses are so good for the summer. Covering up for the sun, but still easy to slip in and out of, and airy enough to stay cool, even in temperatures around +35/100F. These are staples in my daughters wardrobe, and we've got them in all colors and sizes. Yes, she still wears her 2T, dresses, but now they are down to tunics or tops, since she usually is wearing sz 5 now...
These are the first peasant style dresses, with a lot more to come. This first one is made from a vintage Swedish duvet cover. This one has been used just enough to get that supersoft feeling, but still having all the crisp white and bright colors.
This one is absolutely gorgeous. Someone said that if the "forest fairy" would have a dress, then it would look like this. The fabric is from a vintage duvet cover from DDR! Now, how cool is that?? Everything that is marked with DDR get super expensive on eBay, since they are in high demand in continental Europe.
This can't have been used very much, since it has that new and crisp feeling to it. The colors are so bright and the surface is absolutely smooth.
Both dresses are out in my shop, and I still have more fabric to make more dresses (or perhaps skirts?) from. You know where to find me!
