Out in the forrest!

We are truly very fortunate. Even though we live in Swedens second largest town, with about 500 000 inhabitants, we still got the forrest just behind our house, which means that we very often get visitors in our back yard like falcons, owls, wood peckers, deers, mooses, rabbits, foxes and badgers. Just the other day I found hoof prints from a deer on our door step.
Needless to say the snow makes a walk in the wood very interresting, since it now is possible to see who has been walking there before you. Usually there are a lot of footprints from dogs and their owners that are out walking them, but this Saturday we chose a path that no one had been walking before us. Well. A deer for a small part of the path...
We went up on one of the mountains that on clear days enable you to see the ocean. We brought some hot dogs, some bread and ketchup. And decided to have lunch out. We do that sometimes, and somehow food tastes so much better when eaten outside. The kids love to climb the wild mountains, that gives them great exercise and coordination (and mum too...). They feel like little explorers and adventurers, and love to find new paths to get home on. The wood is large enough for you not to be able to know all paths, but still small enough to not get entirely lost, at least not for long. Although it has happened that I wonder why we got out of the forrest from THAT path...
When we came home I decided that now was the perfect time to make that top that I promised my nephew a year ago. He also likes to be out in the wood and grill hot dogs. So why not make him an appliqué top with a little boy doing just that?
I used a white cotton fabric, and made this wonderful little appliqué. Then I added white and green sleeves and a black ribbing around the neck. Not bad at all. But, the appliqué was awful lot of work, and I am SO happy that my Bernina Aurora has a leg lift, since I moved the fabric around quite a few times...

Wow så snygg applikation! Vilket härligt motiv :-) Förstår att det var pilligt och tidskrävande men det är så värt det när det är klart.
